How do I Change the Headlight in an Uplander?
- The Chevrolet Uplander uses H11 type bulbs. They can be purchased at most automotive parts suppliers. To change the headlight in your Uplander, you will need a screwdriver, a replacement bulb and a clean cloth. Make sure you turn off your vehicle's engine and wait approximately five minutes for the headlights to cool down.
- Open the hood of the Uplander. Remove the headlamp retainer pin by turning it towards the headlamp assembly and pulling it straight out. Use the screwdriver to remove the screw atop the headlamp assembly. Pull the assembly out of the vehicle. Make sure to disconnect the electrical connector from the headlamp assembly.
Turn the bulb socket counterclockwise to remove it from the assembly. Disconnect the bulb socket wiring harness from the old bulb and connect it to the replacement bulb. Be sure to wipe the new bulb with a clean cloth before installation. Reinstall the bulb socket by inserting the bulb into the assembly and turning it clockwise to secure it. Reconnect the electrical connector and place the assembly back into the vehicle. Reinstall the screw and reattach the pin to secure the assembly. Close the hood. - Never touch the glass of a replacement halogen bulb with your fingers. Oils from your hands can lead to the formation of hot spots on the bulb's surface, which can ruin it. Never drop the bulb either, as halogen bulbs contain pressurized gas which can cause the bulb to explode if dropped or scratched.
