How to Mix Gas With Diesel Fuel to Thin It
- 1). Determine the ratio of diesel to gas you would need by considering the vehicle it will be used in. If it is a car then you will need a simple 50-50 blend while a truck or other heavy vehicle will need a 85 percent gas and 15 percent diesel mix.
- 2). Pour the diesel into the measuring bucket and mark what level it reaches. Pour the diesel into an empty can through a funnel. If you are mixing for a car then fill the measuring bucket with the same amount of gas. Pour this into the can you just filled with diesel. You now have a diesel-gas mixture suitable for a car.
- 3). Decide on the total amount of fuel you need, for example 10 gallons. Multiply that number by .85. This will give you the amount of gas you need to pour into your measuring bucket. Then multiply the same number (10 gallons) by .15 to determine the amount of diesel you will add to the gas. Pour this diesel into the can you just poured gas into. You now have a diesel-gas mixture suitable for a truck or other heavy vehicle.
