How to Spray Borax on Plants
- 1). Sprinkle a light layer of borax powder into the cracks in driveways and asphalt where weeds are accustomed to growing. Applying the powder before the weeds have a chance to grow should kill weed seeds before they germinate.
- 2). Spray a borax solution over large patches of weeds when no rain is expected for at least two days, according to the University of Minnesota Extension. Mix 5 oz. borax powder in 1/4 cup water. Dilute this mixture in 1-1/4 gallons of water. These proportions should cover 500 square feet.
- 3). Apply a mixture of borax to rutabaga, turnip and beet plots once a year. Mix 1 tsp. borax with 1 gallon water. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle and apply it to the soil. These proportions are large enough to cover 50 square feet.
