Remove all displays and items from the tops of furniture and shelving. Dust all furniture, paying special attention to the nooks and crannies of entertainment centers, dressers and cabinets. Dust along the baseboards and heater vents. Wipe down ceiling fans and light fixtures. Once the room is completely dusted and wiped down, run the vacuum to clean the floor. In rooms without carpeting, mop the floor to pick up dust and debris. Clean under furniture, including beds, chairs and couches.
- A clean kitchen will keep rodents and insects at bay. Clean the stove thoroughly by focusing on the burners, the inside of the oven, oven racks and door. Clean and wipe down other appliances on a regular basis as well, including the microwave, toaster oven and can opener. When it comes to the refrigerator, wipe down doors, shelves and any internal storage units. Clean pantry and cabinet shelves. Wipe down cabinet and drawer knobs. Clean sinks and countertops. Polish stainless steel sinks and appliances. Mop the floor with an appropriate cleaner.

This includes the washing the sink bowl, cleaning the cabinets and countertop, and wiping down any soap dishes and toothbrush holders. Wipe down shower walls, clean any tub mats and wipe down shower heads and faucets. Use a toilet brush to clean the toilet bowl. Wipe down the lid and tank of the toilet. Empty the trash can and mop the floor.
- Clean windows and mirrors with an appropriate cleaner. Wipe down blinds and shutters on a regular basis. Use an extendable duster to dust ceilings and remove cobwebs. Clean television screens with an appropriate cleaner. Some televisions may require a special cleaner and cloth so check the manufacturer's recommendations before cleaning. Check the lint trap on the dryer and clean the dryer vent. When emptying the trash, wipe down the inside of the trash can.
