How to Remove Mold From Painting on Fabric
- 1). Use a cotton swab to carefully brush the mold from the surface of the fabric paint. Mold may be white, black, brown, tan, green, orange, or a combination of colors.
- 2). Dab or roll the cotton swab tip on top of stubborn mold growth to lift the mold from the paint.
- 3). Touch up any damage to the wet fabric paint with the same paint originally used. Dry the fabric paint with a hair dryer set on a low heat setting rather than allowing it to air dry.
- 1). Take the painted fabric object outside. Use a soft brush like a cosmetic blush or powder brush to brush as much of the mold from the dried paint as possible.
- 2). Spray the mold remnants on the painted fabric object with laundry stain removal spray until the fabric is very wet. Allow the stain removal spray to saturate the fabric for about 10 minutes.
- 3). Spot wash the stain removal spray from the painted fabric with a wet sponge and liquid dish detergent, followed by a rinsing beneath the sink tap if the item cannot be laundered in the washing machine. If the item can be washed in the washing machine, wash the object in cold water--unless the fabric paint packaging says the brand of fabric paint may be washed in warm or hot water.
- 4). Spread the item on a towel. Place the towel in a sunny spot and use a hair dryer set on a low setting to dry the item.
