Soak a clean cloth in the diluted vinegar mixture. Wring out excess moisture. Wash off the surface of your lacquered rattan furniture with the vinegar solution; apply more diluted vinegar to the cloth, as needed, to wash off the entire surface.

    • 3). Allow the vinegar mixture to air dry on the rattan furniture. As it dries the smell from the lacquer and the vinegar will dissipate.

    • 4). Spread baking soda over areas of the rattan furniture that still have lingering lacquer chemical odor. Leave the baking soda on the furniture for a minimum of 24 hours to absorb the remaining odor. Remove the baking soda, the next day, by vacuuming it off.

Place two to three drops of cinnamon essential oil on a few cotton balls. Set the cotton balls on your rattan furniture wherever the lacquer odor is still present. Allow the cinnamon to absorb the last traces of odor for one to two days before discarding the cotton balls.
