Homemade Secrets for How to Clean Floor Grout
- 1). Pour seven cups of water into the bucket. Mix in ½ a cup of baking soda and stir with a large spoon to help dissolve it.
- 2). Pour in ¼ a cup of white vinegar and 1/3 a cup of ammonia to finish the homemade grout cleaner.
- 3). Stir the cleaner some more to thoroughly mix together all ingredients. Pour it directly into a large spray bottle.
- 4). Spray down the floor grout with the homemade cleaner. Let it sit for several minutes and then scrub the floor grout with a sponge. Wait for it to dry before walking on it.
- 1). Mix a gallon of water with 3/4 of a cup of bleach if stains have formed between general cleanings. However, don't attempt this process directly after you've cleaned the grout, since ammonia and bleach are not safe to be around each other, even if it seems like the ammonia has all been scrubbed around. Also use a separated bucket from the one you used to mix the ammonia solution. In addition, wear gloves and a face mask when handling the bleach.
- 2). Dip a soft-bristle brush in the bleach solution and brush the solution onto one small section of floor grout at a time. If all you have is a small stain, let the solution dry for a few minutes. For larger areas, it will have dried by the time you're finished.
- 3). Use a clean brush to remove the dried solution with warm, soapy water. Rinse away the soap with clean water and give it time to air dry.
