Troubleshooting Magnalite Cookware
- 1). Match your Magnalite cookware with an appropriately sized burner when placing it on the stove. Avoid using the cookware on a burner that is larger than the bottom of the pan.
- 2). Turn the stove on and set it to cook on medium heat. Allow the pan to preheat for two to three minutes.
- 3). Add the food to the preheated Magnalite cookware.
- 4). Cook the food on low to medium heat. Note that cooking on high heat will cause food to cook unevenly and may permanently damage the cookware.
- 1). Use only plastic, nylon or wooden cooking utensils with Magnalite cookware to avoid scratching its finish.
- 2). Wash the cookware in warm, soapy water after each use to remove any food residue. Scrub pans with a plastic scouring pad to remove stubborn food residue, if necessary. Avoid using abrasive metal scouring pads or steel wool, which will mar the surface of the cookware.
- 3). Store any leftover food in airtight containers. Avoid storing leftover food in Magnalite cookware as the salts in certain foods can leave unsightly surface pitting.
- 4). Season Magnalite cookware periodically to maintain its finish. Coat the inside of the cookware in a thin layer of vegetable oil; remove any excess oil with a dry paper towel. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Bake the cookware in the preheated oven for an hour to form a protective natural glaze. For best results, re-season the cookware every one to two months if used regularly.
