How to Use Oil Soap on Antique Wood

    • 1). Mix 1/4 cup oil soap into 1 gallon of warm water in a large bowl or small bucket. Stir the mixture well to dilute the oil soap.

    • 2). Wet a clean rag in the oil soap and water mixture. Wring the rag out until it is just damp.

    • 3). Wipe the antique wood with the dampened rag to remove all visible dirt. If the finish on the antique wood begins to peel or become discolored, stop using the oil soap. This is a sign that the wood needs to be refinished.
