How to Clean Hardwood Floors Without Getting on Your Knees
- 1). Remove all rugs from the hardwood floor. Move your furniture off the floor if possible, using furniture gliders to prevent scratching the floor.
- 2). Sweep the hardwood floor with a broom to remove the dirt and debris.
- 3). Pour 1 cup white distilled vinegar into a 1-gallon bucket. Fill the remainder of the bucket with warm water. Sit the bucket on a towel or off the hardwood floor, as it can leave a ring of water around it.
- 4). Soak a mop in the solution. Wring the mop out so that it remains just damp; a soaking-wet mop will allow water to stand on the hardwood floor, which will warp the wood.
- 5). Start mopping the floor in the farthest corner and mop across the room moving backward. Continue to dampen the mop and change the water as needed.
- 6). Soak up the excess water with a dry microfiber mop, so that it does not sit on the wood.
- 7). Place the rugs and furniture back into the room.
