How to Run Virtual PC Via VMware
- 1). Purchase VMware Fusion from the VMware website. Insert the installation disc into an Intel based Mac computer and follow the instructions to install Fusion.
- 2). Start VMware Fusion and insert the installation disc of a Windows operating system compatible with Virtual PC 2007. While Virtual PC runs on Windows XP and newer versions of Windows, it does not officially support Windows XP Home edition.
- 3). Click on the "File" menu and select "New." Select the "Install this operating system" option and click "Continue."
- 4). Enter the desired user information for the virtual machine's administrator account. Enter the corresponding product key in the "Windows Product Key" box. Click "Finish" when ready and wait for VMware to finish installing Windows. The new operating system will start automatically.
- 1). Download the Virtual PC 2007 installation files. Either start the download from within the VMware virtual machine or download the file in OS X and save it to the Windows virtual hard disk. Open the file to install Virtual PC 2007 on the virtual machine. Open the program when finished.
- 2). Click "Next" in the New Virtual Machine Wizard window. Leave the radio button selected on "Create a virtual machine" and click "Next again.
- 3). Name the second virtual machine and click "Next." The default storage location for the virtual machine files is inside the "My Virtual Machines" folder in the active user's "Documents" folder. Use the "Browse" button to choose a different location if desired.
- 4). Select the desired operating system for the second virtual machine from the drop down menu and click "Next." Keep the selection on "Using the recommended RAM" and then click "Next" again.
- 5). Select the "A new virtual hard disk" radio button and click "Next." Use the "Browse" button to choose a hard drive location and name for the disk. The virtual disk will house all the information for the second virtual machine's operating system and files. Click "Next" to continue and then select "Finish."
- 6). Switch to the Virtual PC Console window. click on the newly created virtual machine and then click the "Start" button. Wait for the virtual machine to boot.
- 7). Insert the installation disc of the operating system you wish to use with the second virtual machine. Follow the instructions and wait for the installation to finish.
