How to Convert an M4P to an MP3 for Windows 2000
- 1). Open iTunes and create a new playlist by clicking the "+" button at the bottom left of the screen.
- 2). Find and select the file you wish to convert, and then drag it over the new playlist you created. When the playlist's name is highlighted, release the mouse button. This will add the song to that playlist.
- 3). Insert a blank CD in the CD burner drive. In iTunes, click "Burn Disc" at the bottom right of the screen.
- 4). Follow the instructions on the burn menu that will pop up. When the disc has completed the burn process, you will notice it pops up on the menu on the left side of iTunes with a CD disc icon next to it.
- 5). Click on that icon. It will then show you the contents of the disc, in the iTunes menu.
- 6). Select "File" or "iTunes" at the top of the iTunes screen, (this will vary depending on whether you use a PC or a Mac).
- 7). Go to "Preferences." Select "Import Settings" on the drop-down menu. Select "MP3 Encoder." Select "OK."
- 8). Select the only song you see on the main iTunes screen. This is the .m4p audio file you burned to the disc. Drag it into the "Library" section on the left side of the iTunes screen. iTunes will automatically begin to import the audio file in an unprotected .mp3 format. You will be able to play this file on any computer or .mp3 player without restrictions.
