How do I Recover a Windows Account?
- 1). Ascertain whether your account exists on your system. Navigate to "User Accounts" in the "Control Panel" and attempt to add an account with an identical name to the one you no longer see when you start Windows. Dismiss the error message and exit out of the "Control Panel."
- 2). Access your computer's "User Accounts" area. Right-click on the "My Computer" button and choose the "Manage" option. Click the "Plus Sign" icon next to the "Local Users and Groups" option in the menu to the left side of the screen. Select the "Users" option.
- 3). Double-click on the name of your lost account. Remove the check from the box next to the text "Account is Disabled." Click "OK."
- 4). Log out of Windows and re-enter using your account, which is now re-enabled.
