Microsoft Windows Mobile, now called Windows Phone, is the Windows operating system for mobile devices and smartphones. Tools for this operating system can be used to create applications for Windows-based mobile devices, or these tools can be used to troubleshoot issues. All of these tools are provided by Microsoft free of charge. - This tool kit was created for Windows Mobile 6.5, and it can be added to Microsoft Visual Studio, allowing designers to create applications for this operating system. This tool allows users to create applications that can be used on the Windows Mobile 6.5 Gesture API (application programming interface), which is the framework for touch screen mobile devices. It ensures that the application works smoothly with the other applications installed on the user interface for the mobile device. The Windows Mobile 6.5 Developer Tool Kit was created for designers and administrators, and it can be downloaded in several languages, including English, Italian, Spanish and Japanese.
- An emulator is a program that creates a copy of the functions performed by one system and adds it to a different system. So, the second system will perform exactly like the first one. The Cellular Emulator does this with software programs, which allows computer applications testers and developers to create and then troubleshoot their system. This is done within the Windows Mobile and Windows Embedded CE (Embedded Compact) platforms. This tool can be used be for audio and data connections, and it allows administrators to test their applications over a number of wireless networks. The Cellular Emulator is compatible with the following networks: GSM (global system for mobile communications), GPRS (general packet radio service) and UMTS (universal mobile telecommunications system). This tool cannot be used with 64-bit or x64 computers.
- This tool is for developers who wish to create GPS (global positioning satellite) or location-based applications. This tool has the ability to obtain GPS information even if the mobile device is not installed with a GPS locator. FakeGPS uses a built-in GPS API to create applications that can obtain the GPS data, and these programs are installed into the \Program Files\FakeGPS\GPSFiles folder. The tool will create a NMEA (National Marine Electronics Association) text (.txt) file; a dixies.txt file, which provides GPS information to the GPS driver; and a fakegpsdata.txt file, which gives the DPS (Display PostScript, displays the information on the device's screen) driver the GPS location. This tool can be used with any Windows Mobile device.
